Who can become a member?

The majority of Arashika’s consists of students of the University of Twente and students of Saxion Hogeschool Enschede. UT staff members can train at Arashi as well.

Just like other sport associations at the UT, it is mandatory to possess a so called UnionCard if you are a member of the association. More information about acquiring this card, can be found at, purchase a UnionCard at:

Non (or not anymore) UT- or Saxion people can still train at Arashi. However, one needs a campus card for that. Purchase a campuscard at

This looks interesting. Can I join an open training some time?

If you’re not a member yet, you can always and without any obligations join 4 trainings to try one (or more) sport(s). It is advised to join the beginners group when you join for the first time, however you are always welcome to look at the advanced group. Check the training schedule below. You don’t need a special suit for Pukulan or taekwondo; sportpants with a T-shirt is sufficient. Currently, due to corona you don’t need a suit for Jiu-Jitsu as well. Normally, you can borrow a suit from our stock. Come to the training early so you can borrow a suit, if you need one.

How much does a subscription cost?

The regular contribution is € 90,- per year. New member only pay half of it. Which is a contribution of € 45,- per year. On top of the contribution, you can earn up to € 40,- discount (Max 50% of the contribution) by being an active member in the association. Active means being part of fun committees, other parts of the association or by helping with a number of bar shifts at the sport cantine.

Once you are a member, you can join all sports of arashi; this doesn’t have influence on the amount of contribution. So if you want to and you are be able to, you could train 4 nights a week at the dojo!

Are there other fun activities as well??

Arashi organizes drinks, christmas dinners, a yearly training kamp and all other things that the activity committee members can come up with. Such as paintball and movie nights. Regularly, Arashikans are given the chance to explore the horizons by organizing a guest training of other Martial Arts. Some examples of previous guest trainings were Krav Maga, Systema, European martial arts and Tai Chi.

Is het mandatory to join competitions?

No, of course not. However, if you feel like it, you should definitely join!

How can I order a suit?

The best way to order a suit is to contact the material commissioner ( or the trainer of the martial art you want to join.
